A swirl flow burner is to be brought into operation and characterized at different operating points. For this purpose, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements will be performed and additionally the time-averaged refractive index field of the flame will be measured by Background Oriented Schlieren (BOS) measurements. The aim is to quantify the disturbing light refractions for PIV measurements and to estimate the resulting measurement errors.
